8 September the ELV Forum convened for an intensive, full-day working session in Berlin to dissect the upcoming EU End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation (ELVR).

Marta Witkowska Director of the Forum represented Scholz Recycling Polska during these pivotal discussions.

Preceded by strategic Board of Directors meeting in the morning, the general workshop brought together experts from across Europe with one clear mission: to ensure an unified, robust interpretation of the new rules.

It was a day of rigorous, section-by-section analysis and dynamic debates. Viewing new EU regulations through the lens of existing national frameworks naturally brings diverse perspectives. However, lively discussions successfully bridged these gaps, aligning the approach.

Key strategic priorities from our discussions:
🔹 Total Vehicle Traceability: Advocating for the harmonization of national vehicle registration systems to eliminate cross-border data gaps.
🔹 Combating the Grey Market: Striking down illegal international trade and unregulated dismantling outside Authorized Treatment Facilities (ATFs).
🔹 Securing Part Provenance: Enhancing the traceability of used spare parts to support legal operators and starve the underground economy.
🔹 Strengthening Legitimate Operators: Ensuring that compliant businesses drive the market forward.

While achieving deep alignment on many fronts, the workshop also highlighted critical areas where the sector needs absolute clarity like for example standardized methodology for calculating recovery and recycling targets and the precise legal status of vehicles at collection points.
